Seven of us made it to the first league game of the season on Wednesday night. With a little help from the opposing W-K for our defense, we played a full game, with lots of at-bats for each of us. I was last in the order and I think that I got 5 at-bats, which is nice early in the season. Coincidentally, we scored 5 runs on the night, the same number of over-the-fence home runs W-K legally hit. The wind must have been right, or something, because they hit some really long bombs – some fair, some foul. Although we had no home runs, we did have some good hits scattered around. Our newest player, Angie, showed off her textbook batting swing and got on base twice. The rest of us contributed at various times, too.
Next week we play Wednesday, May 18, 7 pm on Diamond ‘B’ vs Waterloo MB (1). Please let me know if you can make it. I am expecting Mark P, Steve M, Angie G, and hopefully Peter J and Cal J. I am on the DL this week with dental surgery, Cam likely has a meeting, and Mark D-H has conflicts until early June. If you have thought about coming out, this would be a good week to come. Feel free to bring friends, either for the whole season or just a game at a time.

Stirling and Rain at the Slo-Pitch Exhibition
This past Tuesday six of us and six Stirling folks met at a cool and damp diamond. It didn’t actually rain much as we played a version of scrub, taking various field positions and all getting some batting practice. Not exactly intense, but since it was only an exhibition game, and many of us haven’t thrown much or at all since last fall, it was a good warm-up for the season.
Next week we play Wed, May 11, 7 pm. 'A' V @ W-K. Please let me know if you can play. Please also invite friends who might like to play with us. Also, let me know how much you expect to play this season.
Fees: The league fees have stayed the same, so our team fees will, too. $50 for a full season (10 games or more plus playoffs), $35 for a half season (6-9 games plus playoffs) or $5 per game. If you don't yet have a yellow t-shirt, those are only $10. Cheques can be made out to Scott Albrecht. Please pay in May.
Hope to see you on the diamond.

The Winds of Slo-Pitch are Blowing
Hopefully all of your outdoor belongings, shingles, etc are accounted for after this week’s storms. As much as I like playing baseball-like games, I am glad that we didn’t play this week.
However, Slo-Pitch does start this coming week. Our first game (exhibition) is Tuesday, May 3, 7:00 pm at Bloomingdale’s Diamond ‘B’. (See Google Maps if you need directions.
Please let me know if you can make this game, and what your summer is looking like.
New Recruits: We can always use more players (anyone 15 or older, and those 30 or older are especially welcome. Anyone recruiting a new player (who will play regularly) will win two tickets to a baseball game of your choice*.
Schedule: The league schedule, with our games highlighted, is updated on this site. We play one game per week, either Tuesday or Wednesday at 7 or 9 pm. Canada Day is a Friday this year, so we have a game that week. Playoffs (all teams make it) begin the last week of August (before Labour Day), and go a few weeks into September. Players must have played in at least six regular season games to be eligible for the playoffs.
